Navigating Insurance After a Disaster

One of the most frustrating aspects of recovering from a disaster is trying to deal with the insurance company. That’s why at Rapid Restoration we have qualified insurance professionals on hand in order to help you work with your insurance company. We have many years of experience with insurance agencies and companies. Rest assured, we’ll help you get your claim through in a timely, professional manner.

We want to ensure that you pay as little out of your own pocket as possible, and we will work closely with you throughout the entire insurance claims process.

To reduce some of the uncertainty involved in filing an insurance claim, here is a general outline of what the insurance claims process often looks like:

  1. Submit Your Claim: First, you will submit your claim—generally through an assigned representative of your provider. This may be done in a variety of ways, such as over the phone, the internet, or through the mail. Your insurance representative will be able to help you through this process and provide specific instructions.
  2. The Property Adjuster is Assigned: After your claim has been submitted, the company will assign an adjuster to your case. He or she will visit your site and evaluate the damage.
  3. Look at the Specific Terms of Your Policy: As your claim is going through, be sure to look at the specific terms of your policy. Every policy is different, so you’ll want to know exactly what yours says. Failure to follow certain protocols in the policy may keep you from getting a claim payment. Be sure to track your living expenses if you are forced to leave your home, and document any damages.
  4. Leave the Rest to Us: Regardless of how long it takes for the claim to go through, Rapid Restoration will work with you to ensure that your property is completely restored. We will also work with your provider to ensure that everything is handled appropriately.
  5. Payment: We will work with your provider to ensure all claim costs are paid. However, there may be some costs not covered, to which we will advise you in advance so you can be prepared. (examples: some plumbing repairs, upgrade of materials, additional work requested outside of coverage)

This is the 2nd time we’ve used DKI Rapid Restoration. On July 12, 2017, a tornado hit Forest Lake and a 15 ton tree fell on our home and basically split our home in two. We were in shock and really did not know what to do. Our bedroom and sunroom were open to the sky, had insulation, sheetrock, glass and debris everywhere. We called DKI and they responded quickly, took the stress off of us and took control of the debris removal, cleanup and helped us work with insurance after this devastation. Chad, Ryan, Randy were excellent – professional, courteous, ongoing communication/updates and incredibility knowledgeable. They put down floor protection throughout the house before they started hauling out the debris. They helped us sort out what could be salvaged (and not) – it was laid out and organized in the garage so we could easily see all of our belongings. It was also so nice not to worry about all of the different subcontractors and work that needed to be done. DKI coordinated it all – debris removal, tree removal, dry-cleaning (all of our clothes were covered in insulation), jewelry cleaning (I had 85 pieces of jewelry – all covered insulation), dumpster rental, etc. They also boarded up the side of our house that was open to the elements. All of this work was done in three days! I am so thankful for their excellent service and work. I highly recommend them!
